Painting collaboratively, they depict Country and ancestral narratives connected to the places where they were born: Estelle at Baltatjara and Anne at Tjulabii. This painting relates to aspects of the Minyma Tjuta (Seven Sisters) Tjukurpa associated with Torluu and Tjawarr. The narrative follows a group of ancestral women as they travel through Country, pursued by the ancestral figure Wati Nyiru. Within the painting, the artists reference Nyiru's tracks and campsite, together with a number of interconnected places including Biltjitjara, Tjarrdurr, Balpatjata, Unrburnbu, Mingga, Arkinya, Tjutapilyuru and Tjurndurrn. These sites are situated relatively close to one another and form part of the wider journey of the Minyma Tjuta through Country. The knowledge associated with Torluu includes culturally restricted aspects that are not appropriate to discuss publicly. In this work, Estelle and Anne share those elements that can be represented openly, including the place where Nyiru made a fire and established a camp as he followed the women through Country. The painting offers a visual mapping of these places and their relationships while respecting the deeper cultural knowledge held within the Tjukurpa. © ANNE HOGAN / Copyright Agency, 2026 | © ESTELLE HOGAN / Copyright Agency, 2026
