Eroticism and Sensuality: In both his religious paintings and his mythologies, he infused a unique sense of sweetness, emotion, and refined grace, characterized by delicate faces and soft anatomies. Forerunner of the Baroque and Rococo: His compositional dynamism, the upward spiral movement, and the dramatic handling of light anticipated by nearly a century the great audacities of Baroque artists such as Bernini, Pietro da Cortona, or Lanfranco.
