View of the Seine School: European Impressionist School (20th century) Style: Impressionism / Post-Impressionism Technique: Oil on canvas adhered to panel ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: The work is placed within the French landscape tradition derived from Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, with a marked attention to the effects of light on the water and to the representation of modern life. The composition, articulated through bridges, vessels and a steam locomotive, especially recalls the urban and river views developed by French artists from the late 19th century to the early decades of the 20th. The simplification of forms, defined outlines and the use of yellows, ochres, greens and blues also suggest an influence of Post-Impressionist painting. Urban view of the Seine dominated by a succession of bridges crossing the composition horizontally. In the upper area stands out a steam locomotive with several cars and small figures of passengers, an element that introduces movement and a clear reference to industrial modernity. ㅤ In the foreground appear several small boats moored along the shore, while a female figure walks along the river promenade. The surface of the water is built with short, fragmented brushstrokes in greens, yellows, whites and blues, creating reflections and luminous vibrations. The perspective of the bridges and the curve of the promenade guide the eye into the scene and give depth to the whole. ㅤ The warm palette, dominated by ochres and yellows, together with the synthetic treatment of architecture and visible brushwork, give the work a decorative and luminous character linked to the European Impressionist and Post-Impressionist currents of the 20th century. The work is presented with a wide classical and ornamental frame, finished in gold and bronze tones. It features stepped moldings with abundant vegetal decoration and embossed motifs, accompanied by a wide inner beige surround that provides depth and visually enhances the painting. ㅤ Observations: The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging.
