Escuela Impresionista (XX) - La lectora

Title: The Reader ㅤ School: European Impressionist (20th century) ㅤ Style: Figurative Impressionism ㅤ Technique: Oil on paper attached to panel ㅤ Condition: Condition in keeping with its age. It shows slight losses and signs of use and aging. ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: The work is placed within the tradition of intimate portraiture developed by European painting of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with a clear influence of Impressionism and figurative Post-Impressionism. The loose brushwork, the simplification of details and the use of a color palette dominated by blues, grays and ochres recall the evolution of modern portraiture toward a more spontaneous and atmospheric representation. The everyday scene and the psychological treatment of the model also connect with European genre painting focused on moments of reading, rest and domestic intimacy. ㅤ The composition depicts a young woman seated while holding and reading an open newspaper. The figure appears facing forward, drawing attention to the face and the serene gesture of the reader. The red scarf tied at the neck stands out, introducing a warm accent against the blue-gray tones predominant in the clothing and background. The brushwork is visible and expressive, especially in the hair, the face and the folds of the clothing, while the surroundings are resolved through broad, diffused patches that allow the focal point to remain on the figure. The whole conveys an intimate and everyday scene, characteristic of the figurative sensibility rooted in Impressionism. ㅤ The work is presented with a quite wide wooden frame, finished in dark tones and decorated with geometric contrasts of lighter woods at the corners and other points of the molding. Its sober and classical design suitably accompanies the composition. ㅤ Observations: The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such case, we will require photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority. ㅤ Exceptional shipping surcharge: shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge for cases such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will not be responsible for this surcharge in any case. ㅤ The courier that must cross the Swiss border can be delayed much more than usual, so, when possible to speed up processing, we will provide the customs number that is holding the shipment so the client can unlock it and ensure it arrives at its destination.
