Title: Asturian Village 5 School: Spanish School (20th century) 5 Style: Naturalist Impressionism 5 Technique: Oil on canvas 5 Condition: Condition of preservation appropriate to its age. The frame shows slight signs of wear in its moldings. 5 Circle and artistic influence: Work stylistically related to the Spanish naturalist landscape painting tradition of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, especially mountain painting and the landscapes of the northern Iberian Peninsula. Its atmospheric sensitivity and the detailed representation of the natural surroundings evoke the influence of Carlos de Haes and Aureliano de Beruete, while the use of greens, ochres and soft light contrasts shows affinities with the Olot School and Joaquim Vayreda. These are stylistic references that do not imply a direct link with those artists. 5 The composition presents a wide mountainous landscape of rural character, inspired by the natural areas of northern Spain. In the foreground runs a river with tranquil waters crossing an area of abundant vegetation, with stones and small rocks emerging from its bed. 5 On the bank, green meadows and clusters of shrubs and trees extend, rendered with different shades of green, yellow and brown. Some small rural buildings appear scattered along the slopes, harmoniously blending into the landscape. 5 In the background stands a succession of softly profiled mountains, whose blueish and grayish tones fade progressively toward the horizon, producing a notable sense of atmospheric depth. 5 The sky, occupied by broad white and gray cloud formations, provides a diffuse lighting characteristic of Atlantic landscapes. The brushwork combines areas of detailed treatment with others executed more freely and expressively, especially in the vegetation and the reflections on the water. 5 The composition conveys tranquility, freshness and a deep connection with nature, offering a harmonious interpretation of the Asturian rural landscape. 5 The painting is presented in a brown wooden frame with an aged gold finish, with stepped moldings in a classical profile. It incorporates a wide ivory interior margin and a fine gold molding that delineates the work, creating an elegant and balanced ensemble. 5 Observations: The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In that case, we will require photographs of the damage to proceed with compensation.
