Escuela Francesa (s. XIX) - Sculpture, Busto de Dama - 30 cm - Bronze, Wood

Sculpture in the 19th-century French school, made in patinated bronze, representing a delicate female bust with a marked Romantic and naturalist character. The work stands out for the softness of the facial modeling, with idealized features, half-closed eyes, and a slight tilt of the head that lends grace, movement, and a sense of intimate contemplation. The hair, carefully worked into waves, is partially covered by a headdress or capeline with broad folds, a device common in nineteenth-century French sculpture to enrich the effects of light and shadow on the metallic surface. The quality of the casting is evident in the precision of the details and in the dark patina of the bronze, which enhances the subtleties of the modeling and gives depth to the composition. The figure rises on a cylindrical, ebonized wooden base, conceived as an exhibition pedestal, establishing an elegant contrast between the warmth of the wood and the nobility of the metal. This piece reflects the academic refinement and the taste for idealized female representations that characterized much of the nineteenth-century French sculptural production, inspired by both Romanticism and a return to classical models. Compact in format but of great expressive strength, it constitutes a decorative work of notable elegance, suitable for inclusion in collections of artistic bronzes, classic interiors, or eclectic environments where European sculpture of academic tradition is appreciated. Its serene presence and careful execution make it an attractive example of the technical and aesthetic virtuosity of French sculpture of the era. Registered/insured shipping and careful packaging."
