Title: Female Nude ㅤ School: European Fauvist School (20th century) ㅤ Style: Figurative Fauvism ㅤ Technique: Oil on cardboard ㅤ Status: Good overall preservation state, with possible signs of aging and wear appropriate to the period and nature of the work. ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: The work is inscribed within the European figurative tradition of the 20th century, with an evident approach to languages derived from Fauvism and post-impressionism. The free use of color, the simplification of volumes, and a visible and spontaneous brushstroke recall the pictorial explorations developed during the first decades of the 20th century, when many artists abandoned strictly academic representations of the nude in favor of chromatic and gestural expressiveness. There are also echoes of the French modernist tradition in the intimate treatment of the female figure and in constructing the body with broad fields of color. ㅤ The composition depicts a nude woman seated and slightly reclined, captured in a serene and introspective pose. The figure nearly fills the entire pictorial space and appears built with wide, visible brushstrokes, predominated by ochre, cream, and pinkish tones in the flesh tones. The dark hair and violet tints of the head contrast with the body’s luminosity, while the background is resolved with patches of mauve, gray, and greenish tones. ㅤ The anatomical treatment deliberately moves away from meticulous representation to focus on pictorial expression, volume, and chromatic relationships. The loose brushstroke and direct application of oil give the surface a notable sense of spontaneity, while the inclined head posture adds an intimate and contemplative character to the scene. ㅤ The work is presented framed by an elaborate classical frame, richly ornamented with vegetal motifs and relief scrolls. It features gold finishes combined with light tones and a wide inner fillet clad in cream-colored fabric.
