Enrico Baj (1924-2003) - Senza titolo (New Lady) N

Enrico Baj (1924-2003) - Senza titolo (New Lady) N

Masterpiece of irony and visual experimentation signed by Enrico Baj, one of the noble fathers of Italian avant-garde of the 20th century. This work perfectly embodies the artist's famous Dada-Surrealist poetics, characterized by anthropomorphic deconstruction and pioneering use of materials. Not merely a print, but a refined polymaterial silkscreen with collage and flocking finishes (velvety effect) on heavy paper. The combination of three-dimensional textures, fabric inserts, and vibrant colors makes every copy of this edition a piece unique to the touch and eye. Artist: Enrico Baj (1924–2003) Title: Untitled (New Lady / Character) Technique: Polymaterial color silkscreen with collage and textile inserts Signature: Hand-signed by the artist in pencil at the bottom right (Baj) Numbering: 135/150 (Edition limited to only 150 copies worldwide) Overall dimensions (with frame): 106 x 76 cm – A large-format work with extraordinary visual impact. Enrico Baj (Milan, 1924 – Vergiate, 2003) was an Italian painter, sculptor, anarchist, and essayist. After studying at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, in 1951 he founded the Nuclear Art Movement together with Sergio Dangelo, an artistic project born in response to the atomic shock of World War II and aimed at redefining the forms of art. Fidanzato ideale della Patafisica and close to international currents such as Surrealism and the CoBrA group, Baj formed friendships and collaborations with giants of culture such as Max Ernst, Marcel Duchamp, Joan Miró, Umberto Eco and André Breton (who wrote essays dedicated precisely to his work). Renowned worldwide for his “Generals” and his “Dames,” Baj used braids, medals, buttons, and mirrors to expose with sharp irony the power, bureaucracy, and social hypocrisy. Baj’s value is affirmed on the highest stages of the art world: - Venice Biennale: Official invitee in multiple editions, including the historic 1964 edition, when he was granted a prestigious solo room. - Milan Triennale: Awarded and celebrated from the early 1950s for his innovative impact in graphics and applied arts. - International Institutions: He participated in the most important European and American avant-garde exhibitions, consolidating his status as a globally market-valued artist. His works in the World’s Most Famous Museums! Choosing a Baj work means adding to your collection a piece of art history present in the temples of international culture. His works are permanently on display at: Tate Modern (London), Centre Pompidou (Paris), MoMA – Museum of Modern Art (New York), National Gallery of Art (Washington, D.C.), Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea – GNAM (Rome), Museo del Novecento (Milan), Peggy Guggenheim Collection (Venice). Why bid on this lot? Enrico Baj’s polymaterial graphics are highly sought after on the secondary market. The impressive dimensions of 106 x 76 cm, the presence of the original textile collage, and the very low edition size (150 pieces) make this lot a secure investment and a piece of furniture with absolute prestige and conversation value. An unmissable opportunity for collectors of Pop Art, Surrealism, and Italian Avant-Garde.
