All auctions / Contemporary Art / Enigma - The Hour Before Leaving
The Hour Before Leaving I stand in the open doorway where inside dissolves into sky, clouds drifting behind me as though the world forgot its walls. My black dress absorbs the light; my boots root me to a floor that burns red beneath my feet. Beside me, my cat watches with pale, startled eyes, keeping vigil I cannot name. Above, a clock marks a moment I refuse to read. The brushwork is smooth, luminous, each edge precise yet tender, colours bold and strange. I am waiting, though I no longer remember for what. -- Dimensions: 100 x 75 x 2.5 cm -- Mounting: Professionally hand-stretched on a wooden chassis. -- Framing: None (no external frame); painted edges ready for display. -- Medium: Premium artists' oil colors on fine canvas. -- Style: Psychological Surrealism with a smooth brush texture. -- Authentication: Signed 'Enigma' on reverse with title and year. -- Condition: Pristine; dispatched from studio-affiliated workshop. -- COA: Hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity included. -- Shipping: Custom protective packaging; Catawiki Smart Shipping with full tracking and insurance. The painting is an original artwork hand-painted by the artist. About the Artist Enigma is an Italian surrealist working across dream, disruption, and wit - never settling into one mood or one way of seeing. Some paintings are quiet and symbolic, others catch a moment coming apart mid-motion, others turn a playful, knowing eye on art history itself. What unites the work isn't a single style but a single instinct: reality treated as something soft enough to bend, fracture, or reimagine - rendered always in smooth, luminous brushwork and bold, contrasting color. Every canvas is one of a kind, never repeated.
