Antique Victorian Silver English Key-Wind Pocket Watch, London, 1899. Item Description: Up for auction is a genuine Victorian-era English sterling silver key-wind pocket watch, made in London. This watch is a fine example of English clockmaking from the late 19th century. Key Features: Case Material: Sterling silver (.925 purity). Hallmarks: Fully hallmarked for London. Includes Leopard’s Head (London), Walking Lion (Silver), date letter (small "d" in shield, corresponding to 1899), and case maker’s mark "J.W" (likely James Whightman or James Walker). Movement: Full-plate English lever movement with brass plates. Serial number № 7527 (matching the case). Fully functional. Dial: Classic white enamel dial with Roman numerals, railway track minute markings, and a separate sub-dial for seconds at the "6 o'clock" position. Additional Markings: Inner dust cover is engraved with "+ PI +". Winding button is marked with "+ TB +". Accessories: Comes with an authentic winding key. Crystal: The crystal is present. Condition: The watch is in its original, uncleaned condition. The silver case shows natural signs of wear and patina appropriate for its age. Important Notice: The enamel dial has visible damage — cracks and a chip in the lower section (around Roman numerals VII and VIII). Please carefully study the photographs to assess the condition. This watch is an excellent addition to a collection of English watches, a perfect subject for hallmark study, or a great candidate for restoration.
