Circa 1885/1895, 20x26 cm. "Geisha at toilet", rare black-and-white portrait by one of the pioneers said to be of the Yokohama school, before Kuzakabe Kimbei, whose signatures were either absent or manifested by archival numbers rather than captioned bands. Albumen print from the period, loose and unmounted, with very good preservation of contrasts, gray tones, and levels of detail.
