2 Emerald stud earrings / new Set in 925 sterling silver Total weight: 1.18 g 5.7 mm x 5.7 mm x 15.8 mm New and unworn Emerald is a dark to light green variety of the silicate mineral beryl with the chemical composition Al2Be3[Si6O18]. The color of emerald, whose range of variation extends from a dark blue-green to a light yellow-green, is caused by small trace amounts of chromium (Cr3+) and vanadium ions (V3+). Like the pure mineral beryl, emerald crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system and usually develops hexagonal, prismatic to columnar crystals with a glassy luster on the surfaces. Its Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8 is comparable to that of beryl. Shipping as insured registered mail.
