Elemental VI by Katja Wittmer Painting 31.5 x 23.5 :: Elemental- Water and Air showing a unique dynamic interplay of shape movement and colour. In her recent series ‘Elemental’ Katja Wittmer has been incorporating sand plaster pastels and acrylics into her paintings to convey the connection to the four elements focusing on the different dynamics of each element- water earth air and fire. Her technique incorporates dripping paint thick textures and multi-layered colours. Katja Wittmer uses these materials to create many layers covering and uncovering offering a glimpse into what lingers underneath. Using this technique she creates unique works of abstract expressionism which challenge the boundaries of perception. Playing with form texture and abstraction Katja Wittmer develops the wonderful complexity of colour -in an interplay that extends through several layers she achieves a unique and highly individual compositional power creating her own unmistakable style of abstract modern art.
