All auctions / Jewelry & Gems / Elegant Art Deco Ring with Diamonds in Platinum, probably USA, circa 1925

"White is the watchword today, white is fashion," the Leipzig watchmaker's newspaper announced in 1912. For the next two decades, this word was to remain true. Cool, crystalline designs made of white precious metals and set with diamonds, shining in the light of the new electricity: this is how the jewellery of the early 20th century appears to us. The ring here is a wonderful example from the 1920s. One large old European cut diamond of about 0.93 ct stands in the center of the cross-oval composition. Two more old European cut diamonds stand alongside it, and a band of smaller octagonal diamonds lines the ring face all around. In the cool shine of the platinum, the individual shapes of the diamonds, totaling around 1.33 ct, disappear and appear like a glistening lake of light. The ring's specific design language indicates that it was probably created in the USA. An unusual diamond ring from an eventful era that has lost none of its appeal to this day!
