Frankreich, Anfang 20. Jh. Bronze, vergoldet. Ausführung in der Formensprache des klassischen Louis-XVI-Stils. Die Garnituren sind als architektonische Balustraden konzipiert. Jedes Teil ruht auf vier plastisch ausgeformten Löwentatzenfüßen, die einen rechteckigen Sockel tragen. Dieser Sockel ist umlaufend mit einem feinen Mäanderband verziert und zeigt auf der Frontseite eine quadratische Kartusche mit einer stilisierten Rosette. Auf den äußeren, höheren Sockelpostamenten erhebt sich jeweils ein großer, kannelierter Vasenaufsatz mit brennenden Flammen. Die Vasen sind dekoriert mit dichten Lorbeergirlanden, die von skulpturalen Widderköpfen gehalten werden. Die niedrigeren, inneren Postamente werden von einem Pinienzapfen-Knauf bekrönt. Die verbindenden Balustradensegmente sind bogenförmig geschwungen und mit herabhängenden Festons sowie einem zentralen Schleifenmotiv geschmückt. Solide Ziselierung und schöne Vergoldung mit dekorativer Alters-Patina. HxB: je ca. 43/40 cm. Guter, altersgemäßer Zustand mit leichten Bereibungen der Vergoldung und minimalen Oxidationsspuren. Die Rückseiten zeigen die montagebedingte Konstruktion mit sichtbaren Streben zur Stabilisierung. | A Pair of Louis XVI Style Fireplace Garnitures France, early 20th century. Fire-gilded bronze. A finely executed pair of fireplace garnitures designed in the refined Neoclassical vocabulary of the Louis XVI style. Conceived as architectural balustrades, each piece stands on four boldly modelled lion's paw feet supporting a rectangular plinth. The plinth is decorated with a continuous Greek key (meander) frieze and centred on the front with a square panel enclosing a stylized rosette. The taller outer pedestals are surmounted by large fluted urns issuing stylized flames. The urns are richly adorned with suspended laurel garlands held by finely sculpted ram's heads. The lower inner pedestals are crowned with carved pinecone finials. Between them, gracefully curved balustrade sections are decorated with hanging festoons and centred by an elegant ribbon bow. The bronzes display crisp chasing and an attractive fire-gilt surface with a pleasing age patina. Dimensions: each approx. 43 × 40 cm (H × W). Good overall condition, consistent with age, with light rubbing to the gilding and minor traces of oxidation. The reverse retains the original structural bracing and mounting elements, visible as part of the construction designed to ensure stability. SHIPPING TO THE USA MUST BE ARRANGED BY THE BUYER.
