EGYPTIAN GLAZED STEATITE SCARAB WITH HIEROGLYPHIC INSCRIPTION IN SILVER RING

ew Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A blue glazed steatite scarab with a convex back divided by incised lines, a carved head and legs detailed along the sides. The flat underside is engraved with a compact arrangement of hieroglyphic signs within an incised oval border. The scarab is mounted on a transverse swivel pin between the terminals of a possibly later silver ring with a plain rounded hoop.
