Middle Kingdom, possibly 12th–13th Dynasty, ca. 1985–1650 BC. A bronze dagger featuring a long, slender, double-edged blade tapering to a sharply pointed tip, with a pronounced central ridge and gently curved shoulders. The elaborately constructed hilt incorporates an openwork grip with two symmetrical oval apertures, secured by a series of visible rivets, and terminates in a rounded, cream-coloured pommel, possibly fashioned from bone. The refined proportions and composite construction suggest a weapon of considerable craftsmanship. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number EA65451. Size: 29.7 cm; Weight: 330 g.
