EDUARD WIIRALT. ”Berberi tüdruk kaameliga” (Berber girl with Camel). Soft- ground etching, 1940, signed and inscribed in pencil E. Wiiralt Fillette berbère et dromedaire Vernis Mou 1940. I. 49.3 x 40 cm, S. 62.5 x 53 cm. With frame 72.5 x 60 cm. Kangilaski 115. Tallina Riiklik Kunstimuseum. Eesti NSV Kunst 1958: No 629 (illustration no 93). PROVENANCE Ann Viita (1890–1978). The collection was acquired in Estonia and Sweden during the 1940s and 1950s. Thence by descent to Lehti Teemant and subsequently within the family to the current owner. The work was part of a larger group of works by Eduard Wiiralt previously in the family's possession. Ann Viita was born in Estonia and fled to Sweden during the final stages of the Second World War. She was a physician, well-traveled, multilingual, and an art enthusiast.
