Interesting oil on canvas of a French school from the late 18th century – early 19th century, depicting a young huntswoman in a lush landscape, accompanied by a dog. The work is placed within the French transitional painting tradition between late Rococo and Neo-Classical taste, still preserving the elegant, decorative, and amiable character of 18th-century galant painting. The female figure appears rendered in a dynamic attitude, holding a bow and accompanied by a quiver, an iconography reminiscent of Diana the huntress and of pastoral and mythological scenes highly valued during this period. The composition stands out for its oval format, the richness of the vegetation, the movement of the figure, and a warm, harmonious palette, with predominance of pinkish, green, ochre, and bluish tones. The brushwork is loose and decorative, especially visible in the flowers, foliage, and fabrics. The work is presented with a significant antique carved and gilded wooden frame, in the Louis XVI taste, decorated with vegetal motifs, garlands, rosettes, and elements of classical inspiration, which greatly enhances the ornamental character of the whole. The frame has woodworm holes, which have been treated, maintaining its stability. The canvas is in generally good condition considering its age. It currently shows a slight slackness or lack of tension, so it could improve noticeably with a small tightening performed by a professional. This circumstance does not prevent a proper reading of the work. It may show small signs of use, wear, ancient restorations, or craquelure typical of its age. From a private collection. The frame is included as a gift, with no added commercial value. Due to its age it may present faults, wear, small restorations, signs of old wood-boring insects or other marks of the passage of time. The frame's condition will not be a ground for complaint. The photographs form an integral part of the description and allow a detailed appreciation of the actual conservation state of the artwork. The piece will be shipped via professional packaging, made with protective materials suitable for artworks, ensuring maximum safety during transport.
