École Française (c. 1920) - La Cathédrale d'Amiens vue de la Somme

- Oil on board. - On the murky waters of the Somme, which return the image of a world on the brink of crumbling, the colossal nave of Amiens Cathedral emerges not as a refuge of faith, but as a formidable mass of spectral stone that swallows the last glints of a burning afternoon. In this landscape charged with an oppressive omen, the ochre-gray sky seems to burn with the will-o’-the-wisp of epidemics or tragedies that lurk behind the crowded roofs of the medieval town. Nothing moves at the quay, not a soul crosses the bridge; only the colossal weight of the temple breaks the silence, lifting its spires toward an indifferent eternity while the stone, gnawed by centuries and wrapped in a patina of impenetrable mystery, contemplates with tremendous majesty how earthly life fades softly in the shadows of the canal. - Framed image dimensions: 40 x 32 cm / 56 x 48 cm with exclusive custom frame. Certain lots, due to their age and value, require an export permit issued by the Ministry of Culture. Although this is an administrative procedure, it is essential to ensure the authenticity of the work and its free circulation internationally. Montbaron Gallery is committed to offering its clients original, unique and one-of-a-kind artworks, guaranteeing the authenticity and quality of each piece in our collection. To ensure transparency and trust in every acquisition, we offer a digital Certificate of Guarantee, signed by a certified art historian. This certificate certifies that the acquired work has been authenticated by our specialists, who verify its authorship, origin, and state of conservation. The Certificate of Guarantee includes full details about the piece, such as the author, creation date, technique used, and dimensions. The digital Certificate of Guarantee will be issued at the client's request, providing an official reference for the acquired piece. This document will be sent in digital format and will be signed by an art historian from our gallery, ensuring its validity and support. We are committed to the satisfaction and confidence of our clients, so any questions about the authenticity or condition of the work will be handled professionally and diligently.
