Early Victorian Rosewood Pole Tapestry Fire Screen

An early Victorian rosewood pole fire screen, fitted with a framed tapestry panel depicting fruit and flowers behind glass. The screen is supported on a turned rosewood pole with carved detailing, including a spiral finial to the top and a small pointed finial below the screen. The frame is decorated with carved ornament, while the base stands on three carved tripod feet. The glazed tapestry panel would originally have helped protect the textile while the screen was in use beside a fireplace. Today, it works equally well as a decorative period accent in a drawing room, bedroom or traditional interior.
