Hallstadt or Osenring. A penannular torc cast and worked in leaded bronze probably from the very early Osenring culyure. A single rod of rounded section bends into an open, slightly U-shaped hoop, and each end rolls back on itself into a tight spiral loop. The loops would have made the ring easier to open over the neck or limb, and they finish the ends neatly. Near the center of the hoop there is a band of incised vertical lines, a restrained detail that probably marked the front of the ring when it was worn. The surface has a mottled gray-green patina with flecks of bright verdigris and earthy deposits. Rings like this were worn as personal ornament and as a visible sign of status among the central and early eastern European communities. Many have been found in burials, where they likely went into the grave with their owners. " Item # 204623
