E. Lionetti - "Vele al Tramonto d'Ambra"

This work, finely executed on a wooden support, captures the charm and mystery of antique navigation in a warm, dramatic, and enveloping atmosphere. The painting is dominated by the imposing silhouette of a historic sailing ship that glides majestically over the waters near the coast, with its broad light sails billowed by the wind and a rich tangle of rigging that heightens its dynamism. On the left, the classical lines of an architectural structure with porches and a bell tower evoke the atmospheres of the evocative historic ports of the Mediterranean, while on the horizon the distant shapes of other vessels can be seen. Set against this timeless scene is an extraordinarily dramatic sky, where the twilight light fades from golden yellow to intense orange and burgundy tones. The natural presence of the wooden support lends the image texture and depth; for this reason the work presents itself perfectly as it is, intended to be experienced and displayed without the need for any frame, letting its colors and atmosphere speak directly to the viewer.
