E. García - El sol de Mallorca XL

“The Mallorca Sun” is a 100 × 70 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García, a Mediterranean composition of extraordinary chromatic intensity that celebrates light, summer, and the tranquility of life by the sea. The scene features two women enjoying a sunny day facing the blue waters of Mallorca. Seated on a broad surface of yellow and orange hues, the protagonists are protected from the sun by a large red parasol. One wears a luminous yellow dress and holds a drink, while the other, with a wide-brimmed hat and a multicolored patterned white dress, contemplates the sea landscape. In the foreground, a watermelon and several slices of fruit introduce a note of summery freshness. A blue bottle and a glass complete this resting scene, where everyday small objects take on prominence thanks to their pictorial treatment. The background landscape shows the Mediterranean Sea, a mountainous coastline in tones of pinks and violets, and the characteristic vegetation of the Mediterranean environment. The branches of a tree, resolved through blue and black brushstrokes, frame the upper part of the composition and provide an interesting contrast with the sky, Celestial blue. Color constitutes the main expressive element of the work. The intense yellows, ultramarine and cobalt blues, orange-reds, and deep greens combine in a vibrant harmony. The shadows are not represented with grays but through chromatic contrasts that intensify the overall luminosity. The painting shows a marked influence of Fauvism, especially due to the freedom in color use, the simplification of shapes, and the presence of dark outlines that structure the figures. Its pictorial language connects with the investigations of Henri Matisse and André Derain on Mediterranean light and color as an autonomous expressive element. The composition also evokes the tradition of leisure and summer scenes developed by modern painting of the 20th century. However, Ernest García interprets this universe with contemporary sensitivity, using large color surfaces, a deliberately simplified perspective, and an spontaneous, energetic brushstroke. The figures integrate into the landscape through broad forms and flat colors. The yellow of the dress dialogues with that of the hats and the foreground surface, while the blues of the sea repeat in the shadows, objects, and vegetation, creating a visual continuity that runs through the entire painting. The work conveys an atmosphere of freedom, serenity, and joy. The heat of the sun, the proximity of the sea, and the carefree nature of the figures turn the scene into a celebration of the small pleasures of the Mediterranean summer. “The Mallorca Sun” gathers some of the most characteristic elements of contemporary figurative painting inspired by Fauvism: saturated colors, expressive brushwork, stylized figures, and a personal interpretation of the landscape. A piece especially attractive for collectors of Mediterranean painting, summer scenes, Mallorca landscapes, contemporary figuration, and art inspired by Fauvism and European colorism of the 20th century. Authenticity and Shipping: The work is offered directly by E. García, guaranteeing its authenticity with a certificate signed by the artist himself. The painting will be carefully rolled and protected inside a sturdy cardboard tube for shipping. After payment is confirmed, a period of three days is required to prepare the piece and send it. Delivery time will depend on the destination, with a maximum of up to ten business days.
