DUO, born in 1981, is a Parisian artist whose early encounter with graffiti dates back to 1991, when he discovers, in his own neighborhood, an intervention by DARCO (FBI), a major figure in European graffiti. This appearance, a genuine "visual shock", marks the starting point of a vocation. From 1998, DUO fully immerses himself in the world of writing, developing a self-taught practice nourished by more than two decades of intensive exploration of lettering. His work is anchored in the purest tradition of graffiti, in constant dialogue with the codes established by the New York and European pioneers. His travels across Europe and beyond, undertaken to paint in diverse urban environments and transport networks, profoundly enrich his style and broaden his visual vocabulary. His aesthetics long characterized by an attachment to the classic style, notably influenced by the New York and Berlin scenes. These experiences of graffiti on trains, meetings and travel gradually build a graphic signature that is both rigorous and energetic. Alongside this journey, DUO sees his works enter the art market from the early 2010s. He participates in several auctions, including an initial notable sale at Pierre Bergé & Associates in 2013, testifying to the growing interest of collectors in his work. Today, DUO develops a more experimental and abstract-oriented production on linen canvas, while retaining the same gestural intensity and the same search for movement that characterized his interventions in the urban space. His painting, now more introspective, continues and transforms the raw energy of graffiti into a contemporary plastic language.
