Dunkirk, New York. 1902 Red Seal $20 Fr. 639. Lake Shore NB. Charter #2916. PCGS Currency Very Fine 20. Organized in 1883, the Lake Shore National Bank of Dunkirk (Charter# 2916) does well to reflect Dunkirk's scenic position along the southern shore of Lake Erie in Upstate New York. This institution though is particularly well-represented for both the Series of 1902 and Series of 1929, but there are certain exceptions to that norm as evidenced by this evenly circulated note issued during the early 1900s. Standing distinct as one of two Series of 1902 Red Seals recorded here by the National Bank Note Census, this example is unequivocally the finest of the two and boasts extant penned signatures attributable to Cashier Alfred J. Lunt and President A.H. Marsh lending this note a quality sure to appeal to the collecting-minded. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500.
