Dubois” to a friend. Paris, January 5, 1883. 1 page, in-12 format. Letter regarding the organization of exams at the Paris Conservatory. Théodore Dubois informs his correspondent that he will be unable to teach his class due to a family obligation and asks him to pass this information on to the students in his class: “I am forced to leave, as my grandfather is on his deathbed. I will not be able to teach my class tomorrow or be present for Monday’s exam.” He then asks him: “Neatly copy out your lessons and report to the exam at the time indicated on the bulletin board at the Conservatory. ” This letter provides insight into daily life at the Paris Conservatory and the organization of classes and exams in the late 19th century, when Théodore Dubois was teaching harmony there.
