Drowned Forest 01 - Elise Eekhout

Drowned Forest 01 by Elise Eekhout Mixed Media 31.5 x 39.4 :: The Dutch coast is on the edge of a huge drowned land: Doggerland. The area between the Dutch coast and the coast of England Scotland Norway and Denmark was not always an ocean. In the last 1 million years it has mostly been dry. Large grazers such as mammoths woolly rhinoceroses herds of reindeer horses and steppe wisents moved along the rivers during the ice ages. The landscape was a river delta with grasslands and forests. Remnants of these forests sometimes appear along the coasts of the United Kingdom. Stumps of petrified trees are sometimes exposed and provide a glimpse into times gone by. Inspired by these prehistoric finds I wrote a legend about a drowned forest inspired on the former Doggerland. This legend was my inspiration for this artwork. The artwork is framed in a blank wooden frame but can also be hanged without a frame because the sides are painted. The artwork is ready to hang. :: Type: Mixed Media Style: Abstract Subject: Abstract Width: 31.5 Height: 39.4 Depth: 0.8 Weight: 12 lbs Framed: yes :: All art on Zatista is original and signed.
