Doulton Lambeth faience vase dated 1880, by Mary M. Arding, featuring a compressed globular body, a broad flared trumpet neck, and a stepped circular foot. The decoration includes three hand-painted circular medallions depicting swallows in flight against a pale sky, set within a field of olive-green scrollwork. Bright turquoise-blue bands accent the shoulder, lower body, and pedestal base. The neck is decorated with stylized black leaf motifs on a cream ground, while the interior of the rim features a mottled blue glaze. The underside of the body is finished with large overlapping petal forms in a dark olive-green. The base bears an impressed circular mark containing the characters DOULTON LAMBETH surrounding a central crown. Directly below is the impressed date 1880.
