[French Revolution — Assignats — Danton]. Law concerning the numbering of the Assignats. Of August 18, 1792, the fourth year of Freedom. No. 2229. Paris, National Printing Office of the Louvre, 1792. A double leaf, 3 pages and one blank page, with full margins, in 4 Law regulating the numbering of the ten- and twenty-five Livre assignats: series of 5,000 banknotes, fixed respectively at 2,000 and 800 series. The final text is dated August 26, 1792, with the printed names of Servan and Danton. Under the certification of conformity there is a signature of Danton affixed to the mark, accompanied by the red State seal bearing the Louis XVI legend. Notable brown damp stains crossing the leaves, a few spots, small nicks and folds at the margins; text entirely legible, seal well preserved. Ancient handwritten annotation at the top.
