Rare Pair of Mintons Porcelain / S. & G. Gump Co. San Francisco (2 Pieces) Exclusive dining pieces produced by the famous Mintons manufactory (England), decorated with Bleu Céleste turquoise enamel and rich hand-painted gilded finishes. Provenance and Marks: The pieces bear both the Mintons impressed mark and the stamp of the famous luxury retailer S. & G. Gump Co. (San Francisco, USA), which commissioned high-end porcelain directly from Europe for its American clientele of the era. Condition (Restoration/Study Objects): Both pieces show signs of restoration and structural defects (the attached photographs are an integral part of the description and show in detail every feature): - Candlestick: hairline crack on the base and old restoration on the lower gilded edge. - Etagere/Compote stand: old restoration/adhesive along the line of the putto’s neck (below the cup) and fine cracks along the base. The pieces retain their aesthetic value, the brilliance of the original Bleu Céleste enamel, and all period marks. Lot Composition: 1) Single Etagere/Compote Stand (Compotier): Oval cup shaped and supported by a central stem with a sculpted putto figure holding a sheaf of wheat (an allegory of Abundance/ Summer). Dimensions: Ø 14.5 cm x H 16 cm. 2) Single Candlestick (Bougeoir): One-wick candlestick with interwoven stem and a sculpted putto wrapped around the stem. S. & G. Gump Co.
