Deruta - Prof

Magnificent masterpiece of Italian art ceramics from the second half of the twentieth century: a bulbous majolica pitcher, entirely conceived and signed by the celebrated master of arts Professor Mancinelli in Deruta, the undisputed world capital of artistic ceramics. This piece represents the quintessence of the “Made in Italy” of the era. Its exceptional nature lies in the masterful execution of the sgraffito (or graffito) technique: the outlines of the sumptuous floral decoration are not simply painted, but finely incised raw on the clay before firing. This process creates a fascinating three-dimensional effect to the touch and to the eye, enhanced by a palette of grand feu glazes extraordinarily vivid, saturated, and brilliant. The generous, sinuous form, typical of the Umbrian tradition of the 1970s, blends with an explosion of floral motifs that recall Renaissance classicism reinterpreted in a modern, vibrant key. The piece is an authentic one-of-a-kind collectible, destined to adorn the most refined homes or 20th-century ceramic collections. Author: Prof. Mancinelli (Deruta, Italy) Technique: Glazed earthenware, entirely sgraffito and hand-painted Authenticity marks: Signed in full on the bottom by the Master ("Prof. Mancinelli / Graffito e dipinto a mano") with atelier number C21/20 Period: Circa 1970 Condition: Good vintage condition.
