Some time ago, we were fortunate enough to acquire a collection of tourmalines and beryls that had been lying dormant in a Stockholm gem dealer’s warehouse since the 1950s. Our goldsmiths have designed a ring to showcase each of these gemstones, accompanied by six diamonds—crafted from sustainable materials, with diamonds that also carry their own history, thereby breathing new life into these historic gemstones. Most of the original gemstones have now been sold. However, we set out once again in search of beautiful, vibrant gemstones and discovered this tourmaline in a truly wonderful colour at our gemstone dealer in Hamburg. It fits perfectly into the setting we designed. Tourmalines come in various colours; the red varieties are also called rubellites, the blue ones are known as indigolites, and dark green ones are called verdelites. This ring features a natural yellow-green tourmaline. Depending on the angle of the light, the gemstone shimmers between a delicate hint of lemon green and a light yellow. This extraordinary colour reminded us of the world-famous French herbal liqueur, Chartreuse, from which the colour name is derived. Thus, the ring evokes dreams of Provence—of a balmy summer evening with a gentle breeze carrying the scent of the sea across the lavender fields. We love this ring because it’s simple and lets the beautiful gemstone take center stage. Plus, it pairs wonderfully with other pieces. Which of these sparkling colours do you like best?
