Delicate Ring with a 0.56 ct Old European Cut Diamond in Platinum

As antique jewelry dealers, our love for antique objects leads us to occasionally purchase unmounted gemstones as well. After all, every historical diamond is a one-of-a-kind piece with its own unique character. However, the search for beautiful settings for our historical diamonds proved more difficult than we had anticipated. Modern mass-produced settings, such as those available in stores, are often soulless, machine-made products lacking any sense of form and proportion. Yet beautiful, hand-forged, antique settings rarely come to us without matching diamonds. So we commissioned our goldsmith to craft a ring setting based on our design, which we then had cast using traditional techniques. We had this ring crafted from fine platinum and set with an antique diamond from the Belle Époque. The old European cut diamond was cut in the years just before 1900 and weighs 0.56 ct. It has a nice, soft brilliance, is slightly warm in colour (J, slightly tinted white), and has barely visible inclusions (VS). Overall, it is of good quality and a striking size. Two smaller diamonds set in delicate milgrains enliven the ring shanks and lend the piece a light elegance that beautifully showcases the large brilliant-cut diamond. At the same time, the piece of jewellery sparkles with every ray of light that hits its finely crafted surfaces. Thanks to its high-quality, durable materials and flat design, the ring is suitable for everyday wear.
