Pearls enjoyed great popularity at the turn of the century. Their melting lustre harmonized perfectly with the delicate pastel colors and soft silk fabrics of Fin de Siècle fashion. And so a lot of jewellery with rich pearl trimmings was created. A wonderful example of pearl jewelry from this period is the bangle presented here. The delicate bracelet is made of warm yellow gold. In the middle, it widens into a flower-shaped decorative element set with nine natural pearls. To the right and left of this blossom are further pearls staggered in size. This piece of jewellery most likely originates from late Victorian England. The shapes and styles of such pearl bracelets in Great Britain are impressively illustrated by contemporary jewelers' catalogs. We show an accompanying page from the 1901 catalog of the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company from London, which advertises numerous pieces of jewellery with pearl trimmings. The combination of high-quality oriental pearls and the fine workmanship highlights our bangle and makes it a special piece. We were able to purchase the bangle in Frankfurt. It can be combined with many pieces.
