Decorative ornament - Germany - Jewelry box, late 19th century

Antique Jewelry Box / Souvenir Box "Niederwalddenkmal" with splendid patina of time – Fine '800 / Early '900 Era / Period: Late 19th century / Early 20th century (Guaranteed period). Style: Historicist / Eclectic with strong Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) influences. Provenance: Germany (Iconic tourism object of the Rhine). Material: Solid casting in heavy white metal (pot metal / antimonial alloy of the era) with rich superficial galvanic gilding and original brunet patina in the bas-reliefs. Identification Number: 481 clearly stamped on the bottom of the box (model identifier from the foundry). Dimensions: 13 x 8 x 3 cm Weight: Over 550 grams (structure notably massive and heavy). Condition and Structural Details: General Conditions: The object is completely intact in its metallic structure, free of cracks, dents or missing parts. Patina of the Object: The jewelry box preserves its fascinating and authentic patina of time, giving warmth and historicity to the coppery surfaces. ONLY a slight superficial scratch on the back that reveals the white metal underneath (intrinsic feature that certifies the authenticity of the galvanic gilding process of the era). (See last photo) Hinge: Perfect, solid and perfectly aligned. The original mechanism opens and closes the lid impeccably, with no play or giving. Interior: Preserves its original interior lining from the era in burgundy/cardinal red fabric, complete with its decorative perimeter cord in perfect order. Base and Feet: The bottom of the box is lattice-worked and structured on four feet integrated into the casting, healthy and stable. Historical Subject: The central relief medallion on the lid depicts with extraordinary definition the statue of Germany of the famous national monument Niederwalddenkmal in Rüdesheim am Rhein (inaugurated in 1883), surrounded by the inscription "NATIONAL DENKMAL". The composition is enriched by splendid rose and bud details embossed in relief. A piece for a high collection, intact, with magnificent patina and ready for display.
