David Hockney (1937-2026) - The arrival of spring in Woldgate 2011

David Hockney – Signed Art Card The card is signed in black by Hockney. A genuine collector’s item! This rare and sought-after Art Card features the work: The Arrival Of Spring In Woldgate, East Yorkshire In 2011 (twenty eleven) - 1 January. An iPad drawing. After two decades in Southern California, Hockney returned to East Yorkshire. The landscape of his homeland inspired him into an intense new creative phase, during which he increasingly engaged with digital media. With the iPad, which Hockney had already discovered for his art in 2010, he could work en plein air directly and record changes in light, weather, and the seasons as they happened. Thus the series The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire in 2011 came into being—an emblematic example of Hockney’s innovative fusion of landscape painting, drawing, and digital art. The work is professionally framed, mounted on a purple linen background in a handmade wooden frame with Plexiglas Optical HC. This high-quality framing offers optimal UV protection, high scratch resistance, and minimal reflections. Dimensions including the frame: approx. 54 x 44 cm. David Hockney (1937–2026) is regarded as one of the most important and influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. With his iconic pool paintings, intimate portraits, landscapes, and his pioneering experiments with photography and digital media, he inspired generations of artists and collectors. Hockney died on 11 June 2026 at the age of 88. His passing marked the end of an extraordinary artistic career spanning more than six decades. Worldwide, he was celebrated as an artist who continually reinvented himself while remaining unmistakably true to his distinctive visual language, his unique sense of color, his optimism, and his exceptional powers of observation. Hockney was not only an icon of contemporary art but also one of the most successful living artists ever. His painting “Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures)” achieved a price of over 90 million US dollars at auction in 2018, setting a world record for a living artist. His personal fortune was estimated at around 200 million US dollars, while the total value of his artistic estate—from thousands of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, and digital works—will presumably exceed a billion US dollars. With his passing, a new chapter on the international art market begins. It is expected that demand for authentic and hand-signed works by David Hockney will continue to rise in the coming years.
