DAVID (Félicien César) (1810–1876) French composer, a leading figure in the Saint-Simonian movement, and author of *Le Désert*. Autograph note signed “Félicien David,” addressed to Mr. Retz. No place or date. 1 p. in-12, in brown ink. Note regarding a request that the composer was unable to fulfill, likely concerning the securing of a seat at a performance : “You must be so kind as to wait until another day. I was unable to secure anything for today.” He concludes by asking his correspondent to convey his regards and best wishes. Old creases, some foxing, and signs of handling.
