DAUDET (Alphonse). *Sapho*. *Mœurs parisiennes*. Paris, G. Charpentier, 1884. One in-12 volume bound in two tomes, red morocco leather, Jansenist style, with interior lace trim, gilt head, full margins, dust jacket, and slipcases (Thierry Sr. de Petit-Simier). First edition illustrated with a portrait and a facsimile. One of 175 copies on Holland paper. A unique copy enriched with 120 original pen-and-ink or watercolor drawings by Paul Avril, J. Bernard, Louis Faléro, Lobrichon, Marcelin, etc. A curious illustration that, contrary to custom, was entrusted to several artists. A large number of period photographs from around 1900 depicting a theatrical performance of *Sapho* have been added. Only one cover panel was placed in Volume II.
