Title: Baila Oil on canvas Dimensions: 30x40cm Statement Daniel Ducarmel develops an oil painting at the border of landscape, abstraction and cosmic vision. His research explores the links between the living, matter and the universe. Through compositions where sky, water, color and energy are in constant transformation, he envisions the landscape as a space that is both physical and interior. His approach rests on a central idea: each being carries within it a part of the universe. His works thus question the relationship between the infinitely large and the individual, between what is visible and what remains invisible. Artistic approach Daniel Ducarmel, born in 1990 in Cayenne, French Guiana, develops an oil painting situated at the border of landscape, abstraction and cosmic vision. His practice investigates the relations that unite the living, matter and the immensity of the universe. The landscape for him is less a subject to represent than a space of transformation: sky, water, matter, light and organic forms meet there in a continuous movement. Color becomes a vector of energy, while the painterly gesture builds spaces where perception oscillates between a recognizable world and imagined territory. At the heart of this research lies a fundamental idea: each being carries within it a part of the universe. The universe is therefore not only outside the individual; it is also contained within the living. This conception runs through his entire work and finds a particular expression in his animal representations. In a work devoted to a portrait of a man, the artist thus inscribes his signature inside the portrait itself. This sign, associated with the universe, transforms the depicted body into a symbolic space. The portrait becomes the site of a meeting between the individual and the infinite: a way of suggesting that what seems external and vast can also exist at the heart of the living. This relationship between microcosm and macrocosm extends into his landscapes. The skies, the clouds, the marine expanses and the blue depths become mental spaces as well as physical ones. Between figuration and abstraction, the artist does not seek to faithfully reproduce a landscape, but to translate its forces, its vibrations and its inner dimension.
