D.H. Chiparus - Sculpture, Elegante Art Deco dame op hoge kruk - 28 cm - Bronze

A particularly elegant and decorative sculpture of a seated lady, executed in a distinctive Art Deco style. The woman sits gracefully on a tall, slender stool and wears a characteristic wide-brimmed hat. Her crossed legs, refined posture and upward gaze give the piece a sense of elegance, calm and movement. The long lines of the figure and the tall stool reinforce the typified stylized character of the design. The sculpture features a beautiful dark bronze patina with warmer highlights that become beautifully visible under different lighting. Especially in the face, clothing, hands and folds there are many sculptural details processed. On the rear, the work is signed “D.H. Chiparus” and provided with a round maker/casting mark. The signature is described here only as it appears on the object; no additional guarantee regarding authorship or period is given.
