| D'ARGENTAL “Vase with Pine Forest Landscape” D’Argental (Paul Nicolas / Cristallerie de Saint-Louis). Münsterappel / Saint-Louis, circa 1920–1930. Colorless glass, with an opaque, whitish gradient on the interior, overlaid with multiple layers of violet and dusty pink. Decor featuring bas-relief, etched, and reworked details. Signed “D’Argental” in high relief at the base of the wall. Height 17 cm. Slightly flared, baluster-shaped body resting on a recessed base. The multi-layered wall features an atmospheric Mediterranean landscape rendered using the etching technique in the Art Nouveau or late Art Nouveau style: In the foreground, a striking pine tree with a widely spreading crown rises up; behind it, a staggered silhouette of smaller trees and cypresses along a lakeshore stands against a frosted, translucent background. The deep purple overglaze layer lends the subject an expressive, silhouette-like depth and creates a charming interplay of light and shadow. In very good condition for its age, with no damage. SHIPPING TO THE USA MUST BE ARRANGED BY THE BUYER.
