Scientific name: Erronea cylindrica (Born, 1778) – traditionally known as Cypraea cylindrica. Origin & Collection data • Region: Indo-West Pacific (often found in the waters of the Philippines, Indonesia, or Northern Australia) • • Habitat: Shallow-water zones, coral reefs and tidal pools. They usually hide during the day under coral blocks, stones, or in crevices. Biology & life The Cylindrical Cowry belongs to the family of cowries (Cypraeidae). The living animal protects its shell with an extendable mantle that envelopes the shell and maintains the permanent mirror-like shine.
