All auctions / Furniture, Design & Mirrors / Cupboard - Column cabinet - oak wood

Beautiful column cabinet from the mid-17th century. Named after the heavy half-columns you see in the middle and at the sides. This design is derived from classical Greek and Roman temple construction. Also nice is those strong vertical columns, each ending in a black ball foot. Beautifully detailed mouldings and joints in the columns. Beautiful undersides. In fact, a cabinet like this is a reflection of classical architecture in wood. The oak is quarter-sawn, which gives it such a striking grain pattern. Below it a wide drawer that is fully integrated into the design. The cornice has that prominently projecting flat horizontal edge that is typical of early 17th-century Dutch cabinets. Inside, two original shelves. The lock (see photo) is original. I ship only to EU countries. Buyers from other countries must arrange their own transportation. You will receive the shipping details from me. This can include UPS, GLS, Fed-Ex and DHL. You will receive a label from your carrier and email it to me. I can advise you.
