Tramp Art crucifix – richly carved wooden cross with metal-toned Christ figure A striking crucifix where fine woodcarving and religious symbolism come together. The warm wood tone, the rhythmic relief carving, and the silvery Christ figure give this freestanding cross a powerful presence. The wooden cross is built from multiple layers with carefully carved edges. The three-lobed ends and the pointed rays behind the cross form a decorative whole. Also the wide, multi-faceted base is richly worked, with geometric patterns and stepped surfaces. This allows something new to be discovered from every angle. The execution aligns with the tradition of Tramp Art: a form of folk art in which small pieces of wood were carved and assembled in layers. Within this tradition, among other things, boxes, frames, and religious objects were produced, often from recycled wood such as cigar boxes. The silvery Christ figure provides a beautiful contrast to the brown wood and highlights the details of the face, the loincloth, and the body posture. A characterful object for lovers of religious art, woodcarving, and artisanal folk art.
