Crucifix (2) - Wood - 1800-1850 - Two wooden crucifixes

Pair of Rare 19th-Century Wooden Christ Crucifixes – Monumental Objects of Devotion – Atmosphere of a Bygone Century An exceptional and rarely offered pair of antique wooden crucifixes, presumed dating from the 19th century (circa 1850–1900). These two crosses breathe the atmosphere of their century. When you look at them, you can easily imagine the maker in his old woodshop — the sound of chisels, the smell of freshly cut wood, the craft passed down from generation to generation. These are not serial factory pieces. These are soulful, handmade objects from the 1800s, treated with natural wax to protect patina and wood, giving these pieces a beautiful patina and look. This is a wonderful Christmas gift for yourself or for someone you hold dear who collects antique pieces. A truly unique gift. Dating and provenance Stylistically and structurally, the form, wood joints, back finishing, and patina point to a 19th-century origin. The backs reveal a skilled assembly and traditional woodworking. The crosses are solidly built and show natural aging that only occurs after many decades. The atmospheric appearance fits perfectly within 19th-century Catholic devotion culture in Western Europe. Description Both crosses differ subtly in style and foot construction, which enhances their individual character. Expressive Christ figures with strong anatomical detailing Natural, warm wood tones Authentic, aged patina At the bottom of both crosses a symbolic skull (Golgotha motif) Very decorative and spiritually powerful The combination of both together makes this an impressive ensemble. Dimensions Height approximately 45 and 40 cm each Standing crucifix Condition In good antique condition. Normal signs of aging commensurate with age. Solid, stable and immediately presentable. Artistic and decorative value This is a top piece for: - Church or religious art collections - Classical interiors - Country houses - Art collectors seeking character pieces - Anyone wanting to impress guests with a powerful devotional statement A rare opportunity to acquire two monumental 19th-century crosses together. Certainly also a special Christmas gift for someone you hold dear.
