Cotonificio Rossi - Leonia - Bed sheet (2) - 280 cm - 240 cm

Pair of Italian vintage LEONIA sheets – Cotonificio Rossi – 240 × 280 cm – 100% cotton – New Old Stock – original packaging – Mercurio d’Oro Pair of large Italian matrimonial sheets from the LEONIA line, size 240 × 280 cm, in pure cotton, kept in their original commercial packaging. The packages bear the wording “Qualità Controllata Rossi” and the badge “Premio Nazionale Mercurio d’Oro”. The reference to Rossi is particularly interesting historically: the Cotonificio Rossi, a historic entity of Vicenza’s cotton industry belonging to the Rossi family’s industrial system, is documented also in relation to the Mercurio d’Oro of 1967. A historical bibliography records a Corriere della Sera article of May 24, 1967 titled “Assegnato il Mercurio d’oro al Cotonificio Rossi.” The sheets are therefore offered not only as vintage linens but also as testimony of Italian textile manufacturing in the second half of the twentieth century. Characteristics * Brand/line: LEONIA * Manufacturer/brand stated: Rossi * Dimensions: 240 × 280 cm * Declared material: 100% pure cotton * Quantity: 2 sheets * Condition: never used / preserved in original packaging * Packaging: original, sealed * Badge: Premio Nazionale Mercurio d’Oro * Origin: Italy * Period: presumably the second half of the 20th century; the currently available documentation allows linking the Cotonificio Rossi to Mercurio d’Oro in 1967, but does not allow assigning these specific packs to the year 1967 with certainty. Note on condition The packaging and fabrics have been stored for many years and show typical color changes due to storage, such as yellowing or variations from the original white. They have not undergone washing or bleaching, in order to preserve the original conditions. The photographs show packaging, labels, marks, dimensions and the condition of the item. An interesting example of New Old Stock of Italian linens, particularly suitable for collectors of vintage textiles, the history of Italian industry and vintage advertising packaging.
