Corry Ammerlaan-van Niekerk gave the sculpture the title 'At Joint Elevation'; Artihove executed it. A narrow metal band clamps the figures against the column. The dark metal sharply contrasts with the clear plastic. Description: Two stylized figures, each with a smooth oval head, bend toward one another. Their arms hook together in the middle, leaving an open space between the bodies. The metal is bronzeed, with a dark patina and moss-green accents on the inside. A narrow band of the same metal runs along the entire column. The sculpture is not glued in place: the band clamps the figures against the plexiglass. About the maker: Corry Ammerlaan-van Niekerk, born in 1947, is a sculptor and artistic director of Artihove, the art studio in Bergschenhoek near Rotterdam. For Artihove she designed the Jamboree monument Universal Solidarity in Biddinghuizen (1995) and the statue of Johan Cruyff at Camp Nou, unveiled in 2019. Her small sculptures, with titles such as 'Uniting Strengths' and 'Friendship and more', bring those themes of collaboration to table size. In the interior: Suitable for a modern or boho interior, on a sideboard, bookshelf or windowsill. The clear column captures light and makes the dark metal stand out.
