Cornelis Johannes Snoeijerbosch (1891–1975) - Hollands landschap

The painting in the gilded, ornate frame is a characteristic work by the Dutch artist Cornelis Johannes (C.J.) Snoeijerbosch. Bottom left, the distinctive signature "C.Snoeijerbosch" is clearly visible. He mostly worked in Zutphen and Amersfoort as a painter, draughtsman and teacher. He was also a member of the Amersfoort Artists' Society AKG and the artists' association De Ploegh. Snoeijerbosch was largely self-taught. He was known for his still lifes, figures and atmospheric (heath) landscapes. His style ranges from very meticulous to more broadly conceived, with a recognizable, expressive use of color in the skies. This specific oil painting depicts a moody heath landscape or open plain at sunset, combined with silhouettes of trees and scrubland beneath a dynamic, dark cloudscape. Typical of his landscapes is the combination of deep, dark shadow areas in the foreground and a brightening horizon with warm tones. Panel size: 24 x 18 cm. In the original frame without damage!
