Corneille (1922-2010) was a painter and graphic artist who, in the early 1950s, radicalized the conservative Dutch art world. Together with five other influential artists, including Karel Appel and Constant, he co-founded the post-war European expressionist movement CoBrA in 1948. Corneille attended drawing and etching courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam between 1940 and 1942, but is generally regarded as an autodidact painter. Initially strongly influenced by Picasso, Corneille created abstract work. From the late sixties, Corneille's work took on a more figurative character. In this work, birds, women, and flowers are often the subject. This is an early work. Dimensions of the work: 28 x 34 cm Dimensions of the work with frame: 40 x 45 Viewing is of course possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. Furthermore, we employ restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'.
